Just two Days before I was to leave town for a one-month cross-country trip, my smallest, oldest, most opinionated dog was injured. I did not have Pet Insurance and he was severely hurt. Pepper is a Pom/Chihuahua mix that almost floated out the door when my house Flooded last year. Pepper is a rescue dog from a shelter. He was a tough cass that they were not sure would ever be adopted due to his agressiveness untill he was rescued by my sister in law. When she passed he needed a new home. He is the Master of the House who Hates all Men. Though since the flood I think he has been grateful and maybe starting to think we care.
Pepper had been playing with another dog and his eye was Injured. A tooth raked his eye so we started looking for help. It was about 10 pm on a Saturday Night. We live in a small community without an ER for Animals. Finally, we were able to locate an Animal Emergency Room 80 miles away. My brother and a friend, holding Pepper in a towel headed out into the night not sure of what they would be told. The next day and two round trips to the animal hospital with $1,200 dollars in Vet bills later, Pepper with only one eye was able to come home.
We Needed Pet Insurance
We were very lucky to find a vet on the weekend, at night, and In our case closer than 100 miles. Pepper is doing well but, this extra expense was not one I had planned for. His bill put a real bind on our tight family budget. My family and I started talking about Pet Insurance. Research started and I am glad we were able to address this problem.
Helping Us Pay For Our Pets Needs
The Medical Needs of our Fur Friends can become very expensive. We need to check out the different Pet Insurance that is available. I started by evaluating the 6 companies I found in our Discount Program that is available to Members who have joined through this site. I found that I needed to go check each company out personally to see what services were available for my state. Most were a type of reimbursement insurance where you would send in the claims. Some had wellness features and I was excited to see one had a multi-animal discount. Viewing the 6 different choices that this program offers will help you save. Go through them and see which one best serves your Fur Friend’s needs.
Our fur family members do not have our life span and this can be very hard on us as they get older. We want them to have as healthy and happy a life as possible for as long as possible. We do not want to see them hurting, we are concerned when they lose their energy. Having regular Vet appointments is very important for them to be able to live long and as pain-free as possible. Look at some of our incredible finds to enhance their lives. Which then enhances ours as well.
