Dear Friends, Thank you so much for checking out my Pages. Furthermore, I hope that as this site is developed I can provide more information and answers for you. This site has given me an outlet since my retirement to stay engaged both mentally and socially. As I go through this I have been able to write about many times in my life and how the different types of products affect me. I have especially learned to appreciate the Wine and Many of the Velovita products.
My Family
My family was a typical Middle-Class family of the 50’s. Both of my parents had graduated from college. Dad was in the Army and was in France and Mom Managed a War Plant Day Care during WWll. After the war, Dad returned to College and went to work for General Dynamics. My parents met in Church and continued to attend. Mom became a stay-at-home Mom after my older sister was born and continued all her life to be a very active Church volunteer. As time went by the 4 of us came along and continued to attend with them. My family is very caring and supportive of each other.
Growing Up
As time goes by we all grow up. In June of 1969, I was honored to be part of the small group of teenage volunteers at the first Summer Games for Special Olympics in Waco, Texas. We worked with a man Eddie Yarmac who had been sent by Mrs. Shriver to set up a pilot program. It would change the direction of the rest of my life.
While I later worked my way through part of Nursing School I Continued to have a great interest in helping out those I met with different abilities. I worked my way through College working in Hospitals and nursing homes. I finally graduated from College in 1976 Certified to Teach Special Education. My Nursing Background was very valuable with many of my students with physical and Medical disabilities. This was a brand new field in Public Education. I continued to teach Special Ed for 35 years.
Marriage
While Marrying later than most of my friends (30). I was able to have a wonderful life with a very good man who was by my side for 19 years before He passed. He was full of adventure. He convinced me to become certified in Suba and get my Motorcycle license. Together we adopted 2 wonderful children.
My Travels
I have traveled near and far. During College, I made it as far as Mexico City. After starting to teach I spent part of one summer as my nephew’s Nanny, While on this trip I was able to travel to Tokyo, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
Since then I have been able to travel to Many states in the US (34). Thirty years after working as my nephew’s Nanny, I made it to Hawaii for that same Nephew’s wedding. I made it to New York and Pennsylvania for other nephew’s weddings. It Makes me proud that I have made it to all my nephew’s and only niece’s weddings. I wanted to stand in and represent my parents, their Grandparents, who had passed on.
Meeting My Bucket List Items
(Bucket List Item: Look, I stuck my toe in the Atlantic!!). We have now made it to all sides of the US. I have stuck my toe in the Pacific (west), the Gulf of Mexico (south), Now the Atlantic (east), and three of the Great Lakes: Lake Ontario, and Lake Erie. Later on a trip to Chicago, I was able to stick my toe in Lake Michigan.
In March 2023, my Brother, Daughter, and I went on a one-month road trip to Virginia to see family and to help my Brother move from Virginia back to Texas. We were going to visit family and pack up my brother’s things and bring them back. He had lived with his son on several Army Bases. We Packed his Prius and headed out. I started making notes and saving all the receipts. I wanted to write about our trip and share with my readers some of the things I learned.
My Country
The United States of America is vast and Beautiful. I hope to be able to Write more about Traveling our Country as this new adventure in My Life develops. I want to see quaint people with different experiences. To learn about the way people have come here and become part of our Great Melting Pot. I wish to understand how other individuals have grown and developed to support their families. Through travel, I have been able to check out many of the different offers in RRR247.
My Self
In addition, I am no longer a couch potato wrapped up with my pet Bookworm reading 5-6 books a week. Learning, researching, and writing about new items and services is what I now spend time doing. The people on my team at RRR247 have taken me under their wing. You show them you will stick it out They will do the same for you! Come check me out.
