Why Free Kindergarten?
BrainFood Academy wants every student to have every chance to learn. If your Child is only 3 and 1/2 years old, but developmentally ready, we would like to talk to you about your Child. By providing a Free Kindergarten year, you and your child will have the opportunity to provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child to receive a high-quality, engaging, effective education. You can also provide one one-on-one attention, which helps to build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Kindergarten is when a child is given a chance to learn and practice the essential emotional, problem-solving, study, and social skills they will need to use throughout their schooling. One of the most important goals of Kindergarten is the encouragement and development of self-esteem. Some children have not had many social experiences with other children. Other children need to learn skills to help with focus and attention to learn to avoid the distractions that are evident in a traditional class.
Skills
Language, vocabulary development, and basic number concepts are also integral parts of this level of educational development. A child will have additional difficulty reading if they do not know what words mean. Children must be constantly exposed to the power words have. Understanding what they look like and how words act.
I remember one year, as I was setting up to teach first grade, I was very concerned about many of my students’ language/vocabulary levels. Many of my students had not had the experience of being read to, and conversations that promoted questions and answers were not evident. One student was not only unable to explain the differences/similarities between a bear and a rabbit; she did not know which was which.
Words and how they can affect others give your child power from a young age. Children must be able to control their environment by using listening, spoken, descriptive, and action words.
Motor Skills
Motor Skills, both Fine and Gross, need to be encouraged and developed. Watching Kindergarteners develop is as remarkable as watching caterpillars go through the steps to become a Butterfly.
